PROJECT CASE STUDY

Inventory Manager

Lightweight Barcode-Ready Stock Control System

Inventory Manager is a standalone, white-labeled web application designed for fast physical inventory tracking in warehouses, workshops, and manufacturing environments. It bridges the gap between fragile spreadsheets and expensive enterprise inventory software.

Purpose

Fast Floor-Level Inventory Tracking

Primary Features

Barcode Scanning • CSV Import/Export • Bin Locations

Focus

Simple, Reliable Physical Stock Control

The Problem

Many small warehouses, labs, workshops, and manufacturing teams manage inventory in static spreadsheets because full enterprise systems are too expensive, too complex, or too slow to deploy.

The result is predictable: inaccurate counts, unclear item locations, slow lookups, duplicate records, and excessive time spent manually updating stock levels.

The Solution

Inventory Manager provides a fast browser-based interface for tracking parts, tools, consumables, and production materials. It supports searchable item records, primary and secondary SKUs, physical bin locations, stock adjustment workflows, CSV import/export, and standard USB barcode scanner input.

The application is intentionally lightweight: it is designed for fast floor use, not administrative bloat.

Core Capabilities

🏷️

Barcode-Ready Workflow

Designed around standard keyboard-wedge barcode scanners so stock can be searched, added, or removed quickly without custom scanner software.

📍

Bin Location Mapping

Each item includes a physical storage location so users can find parts quickly instead of relying on memory or tribal knowledge.

📄

CSV Import & Export

Existing inventory lists can be imported, and current inventory data can be exported for reporting, backups, or spreadsheet workflows.

Local Persistence

Inventory records persist in the browser across refreshes without requiring a server.

What This Demonstrates

🧠

Operational Understanding

The application reflects real floor needs: fast search, clear locations, simple stock changes, and minimal training overhead.

🛠️

Practical Tool Building

Instead of overengineering the solution, the application focuses on a narrow, high-value workflow and makes it fast.
